Hot stone massage is a speciality massage that uses black volcanic rock stones smoothed in river beds over the centuries and pre heated in water.

The heat from the basalt stones which absorb and retain their heat longer than most other types of stone and penetrates deeply to loosen and soothe tightened and congested muscles. The heat from the stones penetrates deep into the muscles releasing tension and tightness found in any areas. It improves mobility and reduces muscle tension and spasm.

Hot stone therapy is believed to help energy flow through the body, boost the immune system, stimulate the blood and lymph circulation, detoxify and induce a deep state of relaxation.

As a therapy, heat is used to relieve sore muscles and help to alleviate stiffness brought on my too many hours at a desk of the stress of everyday life. It increases the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles helping to heal damaged tissue.
